My name is David Vignoni, and “davigno” is my
irc-safe nickname as well as the name of my blog about open source projects. Born in Italy, I always liked graphics arts and computers.
I graduated in Computer Sciences in 2005, and have been working as
freelance icon designer since 2003, focusing on vectorial graphics and exploring the magic of user interfaces. I installed my first Linux distribution in 2003, it was a Mandrake 7.0.8. I remember I asked to the linux guy at university that I wanted RedHat. He told me,
“take this one instead, it’s the same, but it’s better”. So, since it was Mandrake I got
KDE and never switched. My most popular contributions to
KDE are the
Nuvola icon theme, the
KDE 3 and
KDE 4 logo and now
Oxygen.
What’s Oxygen?
I started this blog to let people know about how Oxygen was evolving. I started Oxygen back in 2005 thanks to Kenneth Wimer and Torsten Rahn. They thought I was the right person to start an original killer looking icon theme and truly open source (see, with
SVG available) for the next
KDE 4 release. The project evolved from the original goal of being just an icon theme and now it is also style, window decoration, cursor theme and sound theme. Oxygen project is finally becoming truth. All thanks to the “
team“. With Nuno Pinheiro and David J. Miller putting a lot of work on the icon theme, Thomas Lübking, Riccardo Iaconelli and Casper Boemann coding style and window decoration, Johann Ollivier Lapeyre taking care of games graphics and Nuno Póvoa mixing a cool sound theme , we are hardly working together to bring the best looking and innovative user experience an open source desktop ever had. We are also strictly involved with
Plasma and
KDE 4 development, helping out with mockups and ideas, as well as coding real code. You can find me on
IRC on
(#oxygen, #kde-artists on freenode.net)

Hi:
I love your art icons and would like to get your permission to use a few icons on our web site (still under construction). The graphics are superb and the colors shades are beautifully chosen.
Thanks

Ciao ti scrivo perchè i feed al tuo sito con il mio liferea non vanno. Una volta aggiunti, non riesce a trovarli nell’aggiornamento. Ne RSS ne atom.
PS se sono solo io con questo problema, scusate.. :D
Hello,
I’d like to use two of the nuvola icons (CD with a note and the movie icon) in a thesis for the university. How should I cite it?
Thanks for the great work.
